What is nonprofit strategic restructuring?

Strategic restructuring is the term commonly used in the nonprofit sector when two or more nonprofit organizations combine program or administrative services. There are a variety of partial and full consolidation models for restructuring, including joint venture partnerships, management service organizations, shared service alliances, networks, parent corporations, as well as mergers.

What is a strategic plan?

A strategic plan states the intentional changes to the organization, via measurable outcomes, that the Board and senior staff will strive for over a specific timeframe. The components of the strategic planning process include: environmental scan(s), SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), and the identification of goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics.

To be successful, a strategic plan should be paired with an implementation plan. This plan should include assignment of responsibility, human and capital resources, a sequenced timeframe for all goals and objectives, and a clearly stated assessment and metrics program.

What is social value?

Social value is the value added to the community or broader society through the services of individuals or organizations. Social value is measured not in dollars, but in outcomes that are more personal in nature, such as job training, artistic expression, raising people out of poverty, and ending homelessness.
