A review by Jean Butzen, Mission + Strategy Consulting, of a study completed in July 2012 analyzing best practices for nonprofit mergers, completed by Wilder Research and published by MAP for Nonprofits. Research examined 41 nonprofit mergers completed between 1999 and 2010.

This is my third posting in a series on shared services alliances in the nonprofit sector. Aside from mergers, there is a wide variety of partial integration models that are extremely creative and productive that nonprofits can use. One of these models is called "shared services alliances."

A very interesting story popped up in my Google search engine dated Sept. 28, 2009 from the Charlotte Observer. A county commission of very prestigious government and foundation institutions including the United Way of Central Carolinas and the Foundation for the Carolinas, have formed to identify strategies for addressing the funding losses for the  Charlotte-Mecklenberg community.
